There are a couple of easy ways you can tell how healthy a dragon is before you buy it. The first way is to see how alert and active it is. A healthy dragon will not be lethargic and will keep it's head lifted. When observing the bearded dragon it is important to pay attention to its behavior. You want a bearded dragon that is active, alert and acts “chipper”.You should also look at their body for the following things. Make sure they don't have any visible injuries (scars, burns, etc.). Make sure their eyes are not runny and there is no signs of puss on their face.
Signs of a Healthy Bearded Dragon:
Good appetite for both insects and vegetables
Eyes are alert and clear
Good skin texture with no lumps or lacerations
Clean anal region
Healthy mouth and jaw
Has all five toes, with claws, on each foot
If the dragon you picked out meets all of your requirements, you have chosen a healthy bearded dragon!
